FACILITY:

The Rolf’s Aquatic Center, University of Notre Dame is located off Juniper Road behind the Joyce Center.

 

Rolf’s Aquatic Center will be divided into two 25 yard 8 lane competition pools with eight line scoreboard display and electronic timing system.  A warm down area will be available between the floating bulkheads and will be marshaled at all times.  Circle swimming only.  Limited balcony seating is available.  Absolutely no food or drink will be allowed in the spectator area.  Swimmer “camping” will not be allowed in the spectator area.  This will be enforced by the University.  Bleachers are available on deck for swimmers.  Notre Dame has requested that swimmers remain on deck with their coaches.

 

NO SMOKING ALLOWED IN THE BUILDING

We are privileged to use this outstanding facility.

Remember:

Keep all trash picked up.

Do not go or let children go in unauthorized areas.

Radios, balls, and/or other distractions which may be a detriment to swimmers, coaches, officials, or spectators will not be tolerated.

No glass containers of any kind on deck.

Please be respectful of University ushers and parking attendants.

 

RULES:

Current USA Swimming and Indiana Swimming rules will govern this meet. USA Swimming Rules 202.3.2 – At a sanctioned competitive event, USA Swimming athlete members must be under the supervision of a USA Swimming member coach during warm-up, competition, and warm-down. The Meet Director or Meet Referee shall assist the athlete in making arrangements for such supervision.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Swimmers must be registered with USA Swimming to be accepted into this meet. Age as of January 6, 2006 shall determine the swimmer's age for the entire meet.  USA swimming numbers must accompany the entry.  Coaches and officials MUST constantly display their USA Swimming coach credential to gain deck access. The meet referee reserves the right to ask for coach credential display and/or deny deck access if coach does not comply.

 

FORMAT:

This meet will be deck seeded timed finals.  Swimmers must check in 45 minutes prior to the start of their session.  Irish Aquatics reserve the right to combine age groups and/or gender in separate pools.  We also reserve the right to limit the number of entries in any or all events.   There will be no relays for 13-14 and 15 & Over.

All sessions involving 12 & under swimmers will be run according to a time line following the 4 hour rule.

 

ENTRY LIMITATIONS:

Each swimmer will be limited to 5 individual events per day, plus relays.  Entry times must be in short course yards only.  FRIDAY NIGHT EVENTS MAY BE LIMITED (SEE EVENT LIST FOR POSSIBLE LIMITS). There will be no refunds except for Friday night limited events. No updates to Friday night events will be accepted after the cut-off times are announced.

 

TIMERS and OFFICIALS

Each team with 5 or more swimmers per session must provide 2 timers and an official for the entirety of each session. Please e-mail the names and contact information for the officials and timers to Lynn Blue. Lmblue@comcast.net

ENTRY ACCEPTANCE AND DEADLINE DATES:

Entries will be accepted starting Tuesday December 6, 2005. The entry deadline will be Friday December 9, 2005 at 12 noon. We will extend the deadline if the meet is not full.  Teams not accepted will be notified by Sunday December 11, 2005 by 8:00 p.m.

 

ENTRY PROCEDURE:

1. Between Tuesday, December 6 and Friday noon December 9, 2005 submit your entries over the Internet in a Hytek CommLink file (CL2file) by the following procedure:

·         Create a standard Hytek CL2 meet entry file on your computer. (Allow your computer to zip the file).

·         Attach the file to an e-mail addressed to shafer1288@comcast.net

·         Make sure the text of the e-mail has the team name, name of person submitting the entry, phone number where this person may be reached, and the e-mail address.

·         Submit the entry

·         In a short while you will receive an e-mail that will confirm your entry has been submitted.

·         Report any problems to the

Entry Chair, Debbie Shafer.

2. When your team is accepted into the meet, the entry chair will E-mail back to the designated individual an Entry Report for your team. Check this entry report carefully and report any errors by E-mail as soon as possible (Deadline for changes is noon December 16, 2005).

3. Send the following so it will be received by the entry chair at their address on or before

December 19, 2005

  • Check for payment of all entry fees
  • Executed release and hold harmless agreement
  • Summary of entries
  • Officials/Timers sign up sheets

4. Other entry rules:

  • Current and correct USA Swimming ID numbers must be supplied with the entry for every swimmer.
  • “No times” will be accepted, but will be seeded slowest.
  • Keep the original Entry Report sent to you by IA along with any subsequent Entry Reports notifying you of changed or updated entries. These are the official record of your team’s entry. No other information will be considered if there is an entry error or discrepancy. No refunds of changes will be made to your team’s entry due to your failure to review the reports sent to you by Irish Aquatics.
  • Your electronic entry file (CL2 file) must include all team information regarding your coach name(s), team address, team phone number and team e-mail address.

 

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA:

If the meet is over-entered, IA has the sole discretion to determine which entries to accept. IA will consider:

 

Teams will not be broken

 

Number of officials and timers provided by team

 

Balance of age groups and gender

 

Level of competition

 

Participation in prior IA meets

 

1650 FREESTYLE:

The 1650-yard freestyle may be limited to the top 16 swimmers in each event.   Heats will be swum in order of fastest to slowest seeded heats.  Swimmers must provide 1 timer and a person to count laps.  Splits at the 1000-yard mark may be taken if the coach notifies the referee prior to the swimmer’s heat.  There will be no refund of entry fees for swimmers who do not make the top 16 in the event entries are limited.

Teams with swimmers that do not make the top 16 will be notified by December 16, 2005.

 

CHECK-IN:

There will be a positive check-in. Swimmers must check in 45 minutes before the start of their session.  If the swimmer is not checked in, he/she will be scratched. 

 

CLERK OF COURSE:

After scratches are pulled for each session, the events for that session will be seeded, and heat sheets will be posted at various locations on the pool deck.  Only 8 & under swimmers will report to the clerk of course at the diving board end of the pool.  9 & older swimmers will be expected to read the posted heat sheets and report to the correct heat and lane when it is time to swim their event.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

AWARDS:

Individual Events: 12 & Under: 1st – 8th

Relay Events: 12 & Under 1st – 3rd

 

A High Point award will be given to the top swimmer in each age group, boy and girl.

Awards will not be mailed. Coaches or team representatives must pick up their awards by the end of the meet. 

 

SCORING:

Individual events scored as follows:

           9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1

Relay events scored as follows:

          18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2

 

ADMISSION:

$10 for weekend wristband admittance on Friday

or $4 per session.

 

 

FINAL RESULTS:

Participating teams with 5 or more swimmers will receive final results.  Other copies may be ordered for $10.00.  Please indicate on the summary page the form in which you would like results.

PARKING: Parking will be on the south side of the Joyce Center on Friday and Sunday in Parking Lot C. On Saturday Jan 7, there is a ND women’s basketball game at 1:00 p.m. Parking will be moved to the north side of the pool on that day in the parking lot across from the library. Lane assignments for warm-ups will be posted around the pool.

 

* Irish Aquatics reserve the right to start the morning sessions later if the meet is not full. Coaches/entry persons will be notified of a change via e-mail no later than January 3, 2006 The information will also be posted on the Irish Aquatics web site which is www.irishaquatics.org.
