There are many updates posted on our team website, relating to facility rules, event seeding, and much more. Please take some time to visit our Meet Info page, in addition to reading the information below!
1. Be on time for warm ups. 900 swimmers are warming up in 8 lanes which means the groups that are organized will have the best chance at having a proper warm up. Wheaton warm up will be at 7am for the 11-12’s and 13-14’s. If our warm up time is changed for Sat and Sun the coaches will alert the swimmers at the meet and the staff will send an update using this e blast system. Please check your email each day for the next day’s information.
2. 9-10 session warm up. As of now the 9-10 session is scheduled to run on time on Friday with warm ups at 1pm and a meet start of 2pm. On Sat it is very possible that the morning session may run long which would push the 9-10 warm up session back to a later time. The staff will use this system to update any changes in warm up times.
3. Do not leave a meet without checking in with your coach. Swimmers who are coming back to compete in finals need warm up time assignments. Keep in mind that swimmers are sometimes scratched into finals and relay members and orders can be adjusted at the competition. These changes could affect your swimmers events for the entire weekend! Do not ever leave the building without talking with you coach.
4. Team T - shirts - Show team spirit and wear some of your many Whtn t-shirts to the meet.
5. Relays swimmers have been determined however the orders will be decided at the meet. A team and B team choices will be based on meet performance leading up to the chosen relay.
6. Wheaton does not scratch finals for any reason. This is a team event and we expect each and every swimmer to compete not only for individual times and awards but for the team’s success as a whole.
7. This is a Championship meet which means that swimmers have already checked in and scratched. Per ISI regulations if a swimmer misses an event they are scratched from the next event, if they miss a final event they are out of the meet. If this were to happen there is nothing the staff can do to challenge the penalty. Get behind your block early and pay attention to the progress of the meet and events.
8. Shaving – most swimmers at this meet (11&older, boys and girls) will either be shaved or be wearing a leg-covering swim suits. Both the suit and shaving are an advantage, and will affect your times. We are sure you have read about both shaving and the new suits in the newspaper. This is not a mental “edge” it is science.
8. Relax and have fun - you have done the work and now it is time to show everyone what it is you have been doing all summer. Good luck from the coaching staff.
