Parents of ten and under swimmers,
We hope you are looking forward to the team time trials on Saturday. Here is a little bit of basic information.
What to do First
Please arrive about 20 minutes prior to warm-up so your swimmer can positive check in. This is a sheet on which each swimmer must highlight their name to indicate they are present. This format is used at all swim meets during the regular season. Swimmers who do not check in will not be put in heats and lanes to race.
Warm-up
Once the swimmers check in, they must report to the coaches for warm-ups. All swimmer must warm-up for every meet they attend. This helps the swimmers get used to the competition pool, prepare their body to race, note any specifics of the pool in terms of safety, and get instructions from the coaches. Swimmers who do not warm up will not be put in heats and lanes to race.
Racing and Time line
All swimmers should swim all events they are entered in. Updated entries are posted on the Meet Info page. There you can also find the meet packet, which has all the details about what time warm-ups are etc. The whole meet should take about an hour once racing starts.
Apparel
Even though this is an intra-squad meet, please wear any Wheaton apparel you may have! (Parent’s too!) If you need a team cap, the coaches will have them for you.
Bull Ben
For this meet, all swimmers will go to a bullpen prior to each race. The bullpen volunteers help organize the swimmers into heats and lanes. Not all meet hosts will use a bullpen for 9-10 swimmers, but pretty much all meets hosts will use one for 8&Under swimmers.
Volunteers
We will need about 16 parent volunteers to time (no experience necessary – you will get instructions on the day of the meet), and about 4 volunteers to help with the bullpen. If anyone has a great camera, this is also a good chance to get some great pics for our team website, so please let us know. Email the coaches today or tomorrow if you can volunteer!
Have Fun
Most importantly, have fun! This is a no-pressure meet where our ten and under swimmers can have a great time hanging out together.
Let us know if you have any questions!
