Wheaton Swim Club to Co-Host Age Group State! 1/27/10
The Wheaton Swim Club is pleased to announce that we have been asked by Illinois Swimming to help host the Speedo 2010 Age Group State Championship swim meet!  This is a great honor and the coaching staff is looking forward to showcasing our club.  However, this year will be a little different in that we will be CO-HOSTING the meet with Patriot Aquatic Club at Stevenson High School.  This means a shared work load and twice as many volunteers to help put on a great meet for the swimmers of Illinois!  This is the first time in Illinois history that two teams have teamed up to co-host a championship meet.  However, it is NOT the first time that PAC and WHTN have worked together to host meets.  We are extremely excited to combine the talent pools of two great teams, along with the finest facility in the state to run a great meet! Since this will be a co-hosted meet, most of the administrative work will fall on the coaching staff.  However, we will still need a contribution or time commitment from EACH family on the team in order to run a great meet.  Our team will be responsible for providing timers, concessions workers, admissions volunteers, and hospitality workers throughout the meet.  We will also be looking for donations for concessions and hospitality.  Please consider at this time how you can help! If you have a special connection (local restaurant, etc) that you think could be helpful, please contact us! MORE DETAILS

Swim-A-Thon and Fundraising Results 1/27/10
Congratulations to all swimmers who participated in this year's swim-a-thon. This year was by far the highest in terms of the number of swimmers who participated! Congratulations to the following swimmers who collected the most donations!

Blue Max Ziller
Bronze John Kocinski
Silver Julia Hall
Gold Caroline Fry
Senior Morgan MacKenzie
Junior National Grace Rathje
National Nicole Otero
Top 4 Over All Caroline Fry
Megan Glavin
Grace Rathje
Morgan MacKenzie

This year 115 families took part in either the swim-a-thon, scrips, or advertising. Of those, there were 28 families who earned above and beyond their fundraising commitment, meaning that those funds will go directly to their team fees. One family even covered nearly their entire upcoming summer season! Many thanks to those of you who participated!

Best Times Sheets Updated 1/27/10
Please see our Tools for the Season (to the right) for updated best times spreadsheets for all athletes, for both yards and meters. These are the best times we have in our computer, so please double check them closely as we approach championship meet season!

Sr Champs and Age Group State 1/25/10
Please check out our Meet Info page for full information about Age Group State, Senior State Championships, and Regionals. There you will find qualifying times, meet information, and more! Note that all qualifying swimmers will be entered unless we hear from you. This year, we will be sending all qualified swimmers to Senior Champs, as a team focus meet - including our NCSA qualifiers. Take a look at the qualifiers and relays for senior champs. Also now available, check out the qualifiers and relays for Age Group Champs. Regional qualifiers will be posted soon. Please notify us immediately if you notice any errors or omissions. Good luck swimmers at the Indy and Barrington Meets trying to get new cuts for these 3 meets!

Summer Swim Lessons Update 1/21/10
We are pleased to announce that online registration for our group swim lessons (summer) is NOW OPEN! Our lessons are very popular, thanks to quality instructors, and constant warm water at our indoor facility. We offer five levels of swim lessons (beginner through advanced), plus springboard diving lessons. Lessons take place in two week sessions Monday through Friday during the summer, and are 30 minutes long. Visit our Swim Lessons Website for more info and to register online! REFER A FRIEND! Refer a friend to our lessons program and get a $5 credit for your swim team account! Make sure they put you as their reference on their online registration! INSTRUCTORS. Once again we will need instructors for lessons, and prefer to hire older members of our swim team. This is a great way to earn some summer spending money, and also give back to the program! Contact Bob if you are interested!

Special Thank You to Wheaton Parents 12/14/09
The coaching staff would like to say a very special thank you to all our team parents (and siblings, friends, etc) who helped in so many ways this weekend. We all remarked at what a willing community of volunteers we have this year, including many many new families of younger swimmers. We were overwhelmed by the drink donations which were given. Thanks to your generosity, we now have nearly enough beverages to cover our Father's Day Meet (in June) - no donation will be wasted!! Thanks again; we are looking forward to a very bright future at the Wheaton Swim Club!

NCSA Juniors Meet Flight Info 12/4/09
The team has reserved a group flight for the NCSA Meet in Orlando Florida.  The coaching staff will be taking this flight, and we would like to encourage as many swimmers (and family members) to use this group booking as well.  The cost is $277 and we need a minimum of 10 people to get this rate, and have reserved a maximum of 15 spots.  We need commitment to this flight by December 30, 2009.  To commit to this flight, please fill out the attached information sheet, along with a check payable to Wheaton Swim Club for $277 by Tuesday, Dec 29.  The flight will leave after school on Monday, March 15, 2010 and will return on Sunday morning, March 21, 2010. We will publish the exact itinerary once we have secured the minimum number of passengers.

IHSA Girls State Results 11/23/09
Congratulations to all 13 Wheaton Swimmers who swam in the IHSA Girls state meet. Wheaton Swimmers had many life time bests, and achieved several new NCSA Junior National cuts and NCSA Bonus cuts! Special congratulations to those swimmers who qualified for finals in what was a very deep and competitive meet: Caroline Change (7th, 200 medley relay; 10th, 100 breast). Mary Floren (9th, 100 breast). Meredith Sweeney (6th, 200 medley relay; 9th, 200 free relay; 10th, 100 back; 5th, 400 free relay). And Sara Taege (10th, 200 I.M). Check out our updated High School Swimming page. We are looking forward to seeing all of you back at practice soon, and wish all of our boys good luck as they start their IHSA seasons.

Spectator Reminders11/2/09
Parents and swimmers please review the Specator Guidlines (on the Practice Info page) for the pools we use. Specifically, Wheaton College asks that we not block the windows on the track, or the north or west sides. These spaces are shared with the college and community and they are to be kept clear. We welcome parents to observe practice from the pool balconies at any time. We also encourage families to join the Sports and Rec Center at Wheaton College, so you can take advantage of the weight room and track.

Meet Tips For New Swimmers 10/13/09
Swimming in your first meet this weekend? Check out Tips of the Trade for new swimmers. Also please note that the Ten and Under Time Trial Meet is a "home" meet and therefore a true team effort between the coaches, swimmers, officials and parents. Each of these groups has their job to do, and meets are impossible without the support of one of them! At the Wheaton Swim Club, coaches not only work with the swimmers at the meet, but also run all aspects of the meet from set up, to computer issues, to volunteer coordination, to tear down. Therefore it is important to have great support from volunteers and officials, and for swimmers to know what they should be doing at all times during a meet.

Congratulations Wheaton Scholastic All-Americans! 10/8/09
Congratulations to Stephanie Hasenberg, Kara Field, and Josh Hasenberg, who earned Scholastic All-American honors for 2008-09. The Scholastic All-America program is open to all 10th-12th grade USA Swimming members who earn a 3.5 GPA or better and achieve a Junior National Bonus Time Standard. This is the second year in a row that each of these 3 swimmers have earned A.A. honors. Check out more on the USA Swimming Site!

Did you know? The Wheaton Swim Club was formed in the fall of 2004. Check out our team's history and accomplishments by clicking the Team Info link above or visiting our new Team History page! New: The History page has been updated with conference champs, state champs, and relay state champs. The coaches noticed that the 11-12 girls have won 9 of a possible 12 relay state championships since 2005, and that Wheaton Swimmer Connie Hsu has won 35 State Championships (26 individual and 9 relays)! This has to be close to some sort of record!
